1) NLS Alumni Fly Mumbai's Stranded Migrant Workers Home in the Country's First Crowd Funded Flight
In a what has been described as a heart-warming gesture, a group of around 80 National Law School (NLS) Bangalore, graduates crowdfunded enough money to fly stranded migrant labourers in Mumbai to their home in Ranchi.
The NLS alumni in collaboration with Air Asia, left the Mumbai airports T2 Terminal, transporting 180 labourers’ to their home in the countries first crowd funded flight for ‘migrant workers.’ The flight reached Ranch at 6:00 am.
2) 50 Lac Insurance Cover for Corona Warriors; Acc to state Finance Secy Circular
According to a circular issued on Friday 29 May, 2020 by the state Finance Secretary Manoj Saunik, the state government of Maharashtra has offered frontline Corona warriors an insurance cover of Rs 50 Lakhs.
The proposed state government scheme applies to government, private, contractual, and outsourced staff working towards the prevention, containment, and treatment of COVID-19.
The scheme also applies to police personnel, staff working under the district administration, home guards, anganwadis, sanitation workers, water supply workers and door to door surveyors.
3) RN Cooper Hosp: MBBS Students to Join Docs in Fight against COVID-19
Amidst the ongoing pandemic in which healthcare professionals have remained on the frontlines, the HBT Medical college, and the Dr RN Cooper have planned on employing third year, and final year MBBS students to assist medical professionals in the nations fight against the Coronavirus.
The hospital had issued a circular to 300 students on Thursday 28, May 2020, with the proposal. According to sources the medical students will be provided with hostel accommodations however the volunteers would have to arrange their own means of transport.
4) BMC Moves 6 COVID-19 Patients into Facility set up by Shahrukh Khan in his Khar Office
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on Friday, 29, May, 2020 opened and moved six COVID-19 positive patients into the office of Bollywood celebrity Shahrukh Khan; Which was converted into a COVID-19 Isolation Centre.
The Bollywood actor had his wife, Gauri Khan had converted their four story Khar office ‘Deepvan’ into an isolation ward last month. The newly converted ward lay vacant for over a month until the BMC finally moved in six patients.
5) Renowned Astrologer Bejan Daruwalla Succumbs to COVID-19
Famed Astrologer Bejan Daruwalla died at the age of 88 after contacting the Coronavirus on Friday, 28 May 2020 while undergoing treatment in Ahmedabad. Daruwalla had quite the social media following and was famous for his preachings on astrology and his belief that he could predict the future. He had followers from across the globe and had written columns for several leading newspapers.
According to sources he had been on ventilator support and had tested positive for COVID-19 a few days ago. He is known for his works under the title ‘Ganesha Speaks’ and for predicting the future of several public personalities like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Morarji Desai, and current Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He had earlier also predicted the Bhopal Gas Tragedy and the Rajiv Gandhi Assassination. His vast array followers shared their condolences on social media.
