The Ancient History of the Nagas

I am a bit of a keen reader of ancient and current Indian history. I have written articles on the Aryans, Dravidians and the Nagas. They are available on my facebook as well. Actually, Aryans and Dravidians are the variants of Nagas only. Aryans and Dravidians are not different races but lingual fraternities. They have both come out of Naga Race. I will explain this after a little while later.

It might surprise you to know that first ancient human civilisation began with first human settlement in Sunda land (ancient coast of India — now submerged). Shaped like the forehead and trunk of the elephant, it connected southern tip of South India by land on the West with Madagascar on the Eastern coast of Africa and on the East with western Indonesia. See two images below.

It is now established that first humans from Africa (Madagascar) came to this land around 60,000/- years back. They were hunter gatherers. They are called Ancient South Indians (ASI). Then second immigration came from Jordan (Rift Valley) around 45,000/- years back. They were called Ancient North Indians (ANI). ASI and ANI has merged by 40,000 years back and they had graduated from Hunter / gatherer to an agricultural community. And water was the principal ingredient of agriculture. In old ancient Sanskrit ‘Naag’ meant water body. Thus, this civilisation is called Naga civilisation. This civilisation developed over the next 30,000 years till the melting glaciers raised the coastal water levels.

It was around 10,000 years back when the ice age ended; glaciers melted; rivers came into being and sea water level rose by 400 feet that Nagas of Sunda land began moving North and West —- River civilisations were born . Please note as I stated above that Naag in ancient Sanskrit meant water —- So , anyone who lived by a water body was called a Naga . Our ancient history is replete with history of Nagas —- Mahabharata testifies it.

Consider the story of Janajaeya (Grand Son of Arjuna and son of Prikshat) and Prince Takshak of Nagas. Unfortunately, in human history, somehow, the loser has always been shown in a very poor light —- as always happens —- victor demonises the loser —- so Takshak was shown as a serpent by the victors. Same story is repeated when Lord Krishna is taming Kaalia Naag. Even the story of Kashmir has a reference to Neela Naag—- son of Kurdu wife of Rishi Kashyap —- Kudru is alleged to have given birth to children, who were half humans and half serpents. To cut it short, my point is that Nagas were an original race, the fore runners of Aryans and Dravidians. I have explained this in my various articles I mentioned.

Interesting is the story of Kumari Kandam / Lemuria island, whose relic is Sri Lanka today. One must understand that Sunda land was in triangular shape, whose vertex touched the southern tip of modern South India; on the west with Madagascar on the eastern coast of Africa; and in the East on the western coast of Indonesia . You may ponder about these aspects.

Arya is not a race but an appellation as is NRI today . Arya is made of two Sanskrit roots :— Aa + RAYYA —- Aa means : NOT and RAYYA means : Public or common man. Thus, Arya was a person who was not a common man but a VIP.

The word DRAVID has come about from the writings of a Buddhist Monk of 7th Century —- Kumarilla  Bhatt. In his book TANTARIKAVARTIKA , he mentions of five DRAVIDAS —- meaning five lands which lay closer to water body or the sea . It is derived from Sanskrit word, DRAVYA —- meaning liquid . Some even say that at the end of ICE AGE , people who were left behind and did not move north were Dravid —- they were named so by incoming NRIs (NAGAS moving north and coming back as ARYANS). Dravid meant: DRI + VID or a person lacking knowledge. DRI meant lacking and VID means Vidya or knowledge. Anyway —let me revert to Aryans —-

After the ice age ended and sea water rose by 400 feet and Sunda land was submerged and rivers were formed —- Nagas established River civilisations and went along the rivers to Central Asia, Middle East , Europe and sin. Bhagwan Gidwani gives a good account in his book ‘Return of the Aryans.’

Somewhere around 4000 BC -4500BC, a major geological event took place —- which blocked and reshaped some rivers like Saraswati. Thus, Nagas started returning to the land which they had left. They were considered superior to the Native Nagas, who had been left behind —- this the word ARYA emerged as is NRI of today —- more knowledgeable and affluent as compared to locals .

It is the returning Nagas , who called the natives left behind as DRAVIDS —- The term Dravid though appeared first time in Sanskrit literature in 7/8 Century but it was popularised in 1856 by a Christian Missionary Robert Caldwel who wrote the grammar of prototype Indo-European languages. One may note that Barhui language of Balochistan is close to Tamil Language.

All these languages have emerged from Prakriti / Brahmi. Even the Harappan Language of 459 Characters is made of Prakriti characters of fishes and stars. Sanskrit language till then was crude and only spoken language. It got glamorised by Panini only around 1/2 Century BC and became first script of civilised world. Some people also say that Dravid is derived from Tramil or Dramila — of Tamil origin . Whatever, genetically speaking, it is not at all a separate race from Nagas. It is Aryans injustice to their own origin.
