Powai based Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) Asha has initiated a program to provide food for impoverished households amidst the 21-day lockdown. The organisation aims to serve over 200 people free rations by April 15, 2020. The NGO will be providing families with 10 kilo grams of rice, 5 kg flour, 2 kg lentils, 2 kg sugar, soap and a kg of oil every week.
Speaking to ‘The Watchdog News’ Dr. Smita Puniyani said, “Our entire team is working hard to make this initiative a reality. Our emphasis is especially on families of daily wage labourers who have been hit thee hardest during this nation-wide lock down. It is in these time that we must come together as a society and work towards the betterment of the nation and all of its people.
