The Dr LH Hirandani Hospital has just begun COVID-19 testing, until now, only a few hospital were authorised and therefore had the infrastructure to test patients for the Corona Virus, with the Kasturba Hospital in Mumbai leading the roost as the leading government hospital to test for this deadly virus.
Speaking about this development Dr. Neeraj Tulara, an Infectious Diseases specialist at the Hiranandani Hospital said, “The Covid-19 test shall cost Rs 5200 at our hospital and we have special provisions to admit limited number of such patients.” As per the Maharashtra state governments directives, the following would be deemed in respect to observation of COVID-19 patients at Hiranandani Hospital:
Testing will mean the individual will be admitted in the hospital. If the test is negative, the patient will be discharged. If positive, then the patient will be treated. Two consecutive tests 24 hours apart will be deemed negative. This patient will be discharged. There will be contact tracing for ALL positive cases. The cases will be advised to come for testing, their names will be sent to the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC).
MMC will request the person to report for testing twice. Having failed, the matter will be reported to the law for further action. Hospitalization is covered by insurance. The hospital has a fever clinic manned 24x7. The hospital also has quarantine and isolation beds.
These are 30 in number. The room charges will be extra as applicable, includes the meal for patient. No attendant is permitted. Paediatric cases the attendant is permitted and vulnerable patient will be permitted attendant. This development makes Powai’s Hirandani Hospital the 53rd COVID-19 Testing facility.
